Villa Hills and Crescent Springs residents can support Fort Campbell soldiers by ordering locally grown mums through the area's America Supporting Americans (ASA) Adopt-a-Unit chapter before Sept. 14.
The Villa Hills/Crescent Springs chapter is selling potted mums in two sizes: 8-inch pots for $10 and 12-inch pots for $22. Colors include red, pink, white, yellow and bronze/orange. Proceeds fund ongoing projects for the chapter's adopted unit, the 1-320th Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Campbell.
The regiment, nicknamed the "Top Guns," is the field artillery battalion assigned to the 101st Airborne Division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
Orders must be paid by 4 p.m. Sept. 14. Pickup runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Crescent Springs City Building parking lot. Buyers who cannot make the pickup window should contact organizers Julie Schuler or Janie Terrell to arrange alternatives.
How to order
Order forms and payment can be dropped off at the Crescent Springs City Building at 739 Buttermilk Pike or the Villa Hills City Building at 720 Rogers Road during regular business hours.
The Crescent Springs office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Villa Hills office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Payment is by check or cash only, with checks payable to "Villa Hills Adopt a Unit."
ASA is a nonprofit that links individual military units with communities across the country. The Villa Hills/Crescent Springs chapter selects pots with tight buds so buyers get longer-lasting blooms.
Lakeside Park sale also underway
A separate Lakeside Park chapter is running its own mum sale with an earlier deadline of Sept. 11 and pickup on Sept. 15 at 9 Buttermilk Pike.
