Kenton County Fiscal Court will consider extending its lease with golf management company Troon and purchasing a police drone when it meets Aug. 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Kenton County Courthouse in Independence.

The meeting moves from the Government Center in Covington, where the court met July 28, to the courthouse at 5272 Madison Pike.

Nick Bednar will present on improvements at the Kenton County Golf Course and ask commissioners to approve a lease extension with Troon Golf, LLC, which currently manages the county's golf courses. No financial details of the proposed extension were included in the publicly posted agenda.

The court will also vote on a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Park Hills to use Kenton County Community Redevelopment Funds. The draft agreement is dated July 26, according to the meeting agenda. Dollar amounts were not listed in the agenda posting.

Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann will preside. Under general business, the court will present the Dr. Jon Draud Pioneer Award to Charles Korzenborn. The award, renamed in 2026 after longtime county commissioner Dr. Jon Draud, was last given to Karen Finan at the July 28 meeting.

The consent agenda includes at least 19 items. Among them:

  • An agreement with Axon Enterprise, Inc. for a drone for the Kenton County Police Department
  • School Resource Officer agreements at Villa Madonna Academy, St. Joseph School and St. Agnes School for the 2026-2027 school year
  • An RFP for road resurfacing on Alexander Road between St. Mary Road and KY 177
  • A contractor agreement for window replacement at the Historic Kenton County Courthouse
  • The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant and a 2027 Highway Safety Grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for county police
  • Relocation of an emergency siren due to KY 536 reconstruction
  • Sale of a surplused 2014 Kenworth dump truck to Campbell County Fiscal Court
  • Contract extensions with Meridian Management Corporation for facility management at the Justice Center and Administration Building
  • A three-year cloud software contract with Central Square (Lucity) for work order management

The twice-delayed Flock Safety automatic license plate reader proposal does not appear on the Aug. 11 agenda. No date has been announced for that vote.
