Fort Mitchell residents have three city-sponsored Halloween events on the calendar in October, starting with a decorating contest the weekend of Oct. 16.

The City of Fort Mitchell announced the lineup on X on Friday, Oct. 9. The schedule includes the annual Haunt Your House Halloween Decorating Contest, a movie night at the park and citywide trick-or-treat hours.

Haunt Your House decorating contest: Oct. 16-18

Residents who want to compete should have their homes decorated by the weekend of Friday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 18. A city committee will drive Fort Mitchell streets during that window and pick 10 winners.

Winners get gift cards to a Fort Mitchell business or restaurant.

The contest is an annual event, according to the city's events page. Winners will be announced on the city's social media pages, website and e-newsletter on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026.

Halloween Fun & Flick: Saturday, Oct. 24

General Ormsby Mitchel Park, at 261 Grandview Drive, hosts the Halloween Fun & Flick from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, with a costume contest followed by an outdoor screening of Hotel Transylvania starting at 7:30 p.m. The city encourages attendees to bring chairs and blankets.

Two food trucks will be on site: Hudie Hut and Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck. Parking is available at the park lot, with overflow at Drees, 211 Grandview Drive, and Hemmer, 226 Grandview Drive.

Trick-or-treat: Saturday, Oct. 31

Citywide trick-or-treat hours run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Residents with questions can contact Joe Christofield, the city's programs and communications coordinator, at 859-331-1212.
