Beechwood shut out St. Henry 62-0 on Friday, Oct. 9, extending the Tigers' unbeaten season to 7-0 and their grip on Class 2A, District 5.
Beechwood has outscored opponents 354-45 through seven games. Outside its 42-35 win over Covington Catholic, the Tigers have won six games by a combined score of 312-10.
St. Henry, in its second year of varsity play, dropped to 4-3, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Individual stats from the shutout were not available.
Rash's return fueling a big season
Head coach Noel Rash, who returned to Beechwood in 2026 after a three-year absence, has the Tigers playing at a level that matches his resume. Rash won eight state championships in 17 previous seasons at the school.
"I'm back at my camelot … It's incredible. Facilities are incredible. Kids are incredible," Rash said in an August preseason interview with LINK nky.
Senior quarterback Emmett Queen, a Wake Forest commit, and senior Tyler Fryman, a University of Kentucky commit, anchor a roster chasing the program's 19th state championship. Fryman scored three touchdowns in Week 7's 63-7 win over Walton-Verona, giving him 64 for his career and a spot in the top five in program history, LINK nky reported.
Dixie Heights keeps climbing
Across town, Dixie Heights beat Conner 44-8 on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Hebron, as we reported Oct. 9. Senior running back Levi Gilliland rushed for 142 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Brycen Schatzman completed 15 of 18 passes for 210 yards.
The Colonels improved to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in district play after starting the season 0-4. Three wins in their last four games have changed the trajectory.
Coach Pat Burke gave his players a day off from practice after the victory, the NKY Tribune reported. Dixie Heights needs either a home win against Boone County or a Scott loss in one of its two remaining district games to secure the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game.
What's next
Beechwood hosts Gallatin County on Friday, Oct. 16, then travels to Bracken County on Oct. 23 and Campbell County on Oct. 30. Dixie Heights hosts Boone County in a district game with playoff seeding on the line.
