The Beechwood girls cross country team won the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Division 2 Championship at Idlewild Park in Burlington on Saturday, Oct. 10, under first-year head coach Ian Johnstone.
The boys team finished third at the same meet.
Beechwood High School Athletics announced the results on X, saying both teams are preparing for the postseason. The NKAC championship is a conference meet, not a Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) postseason event.
The title comes after the graduation of multi-time state champion Lily Parke, whose departure the Cincinnati Enquirer noted in August. Johnstone took over the program in May after Beechwood Independent Schools announced his hiring.
Both teams next compete at the KHSAA Regional Meet on Saturday, Oct. 24. The state championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Kentucky Horse Park.
