Thomas More University's unbeaten run ended Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Crestview Hills women's soccer team fell 1-0 at Cedarville University, according to the Saints' athletics department.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference loss was the first defeat of the 2026 season for head coach Marquis Walker's squad.

Cedarville's Alyssa Griner scored the match's lone goal in the 60th minute. The Yellow Jackets sent a free kick into the penalty box, and Griner finished to give the hosts a lead they would not relinquish. Thomas More (5-1-2, 3-1-0 G-MAC) spent the remaining 30 minutes chasing an equalizer but could not break through.

Freshman goalkeeper Emma Yeager was the Saints' best player on the afternoon, making six saves to keep the deficit at one. Cedarville outshot Thomas More 13-2 and held a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Ivy Hoffman and senior Andjela Popovic each recorded one shot for the Saints, accounting for the team's entire offensive output.

The lopsided stat line reflected the gap between the two programs entering the season. Cedarville was picked second in the G-MAC preseason coaches poll released in August, collecting 110 points. Thomas More was slotted sixth with 62 points.

Still, the Saints had outperformed those expectations through the season's first seven matches. Thomas More entered the Cedarville trip riding a five-game winning streak, including a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, Sept. 17. That run pushed the team to 5-0-2 overall and 3-0-0 in conference play before Saturday's setback.

Cedarville improved to 5-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the G-MAC with the win. The warm, humid conditions in Cedarville, Ohio, did not slow the Yellow Jackets, who generated 13 shots and seven on target while limiting the Saints to just two attempts.

Thomas More returns home Thursday to host Northwood at 7:30 p.m.
