The Pub at Crestview Hills isn't going anywhere.

While Tavern Restaurant Group permanently closed its 25-year-old Pub Rookwood location in Cincinnati on Thursday, July 30, the company confirmed that its Crestview Hills restaurant at 2853 Dixie Highway will remain open as part of a restructured portfolio.

The closure leaves the Crestview Hills location as the only full-service Pub in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky market. The group's other Pub locations operate in Beavercreek, Ohio, and in Nashville, Orlando, Naples, and Pembroke Pines.

Tavern Restaurant Group CEO Nick Sanders, a Lexington native and University of Kentucky alumnus who has been building restaurants for more than 45 years, said in a statement that the Rookwood decision came down to economics.

"While retiring this location is difficult, we feel it best aligns with our strategy for the success and future of the brand," Sanders said.

The company cited challenging economic conditions and rising operating costs as reasons for the restructuring. In the Cincinnati area, the group is shifting its Pub presence to The Pub London Street Food, a food stall inside Element Eatery in Madisonville that opened in June 2025. The group is also revitalizing part of its deSha's restaurant in Symmes Township to incorporate elements of The Pub's atmosphere, according to WCPO.

Sanders founded Tavern Restaurant Group with deSha's in Maysville, Kentucky, in 1981. He opened The Pub Rookwood in 2001. The group employs between 501 and 1,000 people across its concepts in four states, according to its LinkedIn page.

For Crestview Hills diners, the restaurant continues its regular schedule: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Weekly Monday trivia nights start at 6:30 p.m., and the restaurant has live music from Steven Gregory scheduled for Friday, July 31.

The Crestview Hills Pub now stands alone as the brand's full-service flagship in the region. Tavern Restaurant Group has not announced any changes to the location's menu, staffing, or programming as part of the repositioning.
