The St. Henry Crusaders women's golf team won the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Division II championship Monday, Sept. 14, at A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

Eighth-grader Reese Anthony earned medalist honors with a round of 79. She was joined on the championship squad by senior Alexis Fassbender, freshmen Ari Burton and Sophia Houp, and Eila Voelker, according to St. Henry Athletics.

The title wasn't a fluke.

The conference championship adds to a breakout fall for a young Crusaders roster that has stacked results since the season's opening weeks. St. Henry won the All "A" Regional at Boone Links earlier this season, with Anthony earning medalist honors at 81. The team then placed third at the All "A" Classic state tournament at Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, posting a team score of 372. Anthony shot 80 there to finish seventh individually.

Coach Mary Beth Beimesch called the state-tournament finish the program's best ever. "Our third-place finish at the All 'A' state tourney in Richmond was our highest finish in the history of the tournament," Beimesch told LINK nky on Sept. 3.

Burton shot 94, Fassbender 97, Houp 101 and junior Adalynn Osborne 112 to round out the Crusaders' scoring at the state tournament. In that same Sept. 3 interview, Beimesch credited Fassbender with anchoring the lineup and said the freshmen and Osborne were posting better numbers each week.

"The Crusader family is excited to see what plays out on the course over the next few weeks," Beimesch said at the time.

Anthony is an eighth-grader who already owns multiple Greater Cincinnati Golf Association tournament wins and player-of-the-year honors. With the NKAC title in hand, the Crusaders now turn to postseason play.

Kentucky high school golf regionals begin Monday, Sept. 21, with the state tournament set for Saturday, Oct. 10, according to LINK nky.
