Four Northern Kentucky business leaders will be inducted into the NKY Business Hall of Fame on Aug. 12, at Receptions Event Center in Erlanger, with the late real estate developer Gordon Martin receiving a posthumous honor for his role shaping the region's housing landscape.

Northern Kentucky Magazine, in partnership with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, will host the eighth annual ceremony at 1379 Donaldson Hwy., the NKY Tribune reported. The venue sits on the stretch of road the Kentucky General Assembly designated the H. Gordon Martin Memorial Highway in 2018.

Martin, born in 1928 in Ludlow to parents who owned a foundry business, built affordable homes for returning World War II servicemen and developed the Ranchhill, Maywood and Cherryhill subdivisions in Erlanger, according to a Kentucky General Assembly resolution. He was a founding member and past president of both the Kentucky Homebuilders Association and the Northern Kentucky Homebuilders Association. In 1968, he helped merge the Covington-Kenton-Boone Chamber with the Campbell County Chamber to form the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, chairing it in 1975. He also chaired the NKU Board of Regents in 1982 and led a task force that promoted construction of Interstate 275.

"He was a special man. He was particularly insightful, a visionary and quite clever," his son, Dr. Stephen Martin, said at the time of his father's death in 2002, as quoted in the General Assembly resolution. "He loved Northern Kentucky and put the community's interests at the top of the list."

Martin died Oct. 10, 2002. He was 73.

The three living inductees:

Rich Boehne, a Fort Thomas native and 1981 Northern Kentucky University graduate, started his media career selling subscriptions for The Cincinnati Post while attending Highlands High School. He joined E.W. Scripps in 1988, rose to CEO in 2008 and chairman in 2013, and retired from the Scripps board in May 2021. He lives in Newport.

Bob Hoffer, managing partner at DBL Law and a Fort Mitchell resident, has practiced employment law for more than 40 years since earning his J.D. from NKU's Chase College of Law in 1980. He chairs the St. Elizabeth Foundation and sits on the Kenton County Airport Board. His honors include the Kentucky Bar Association's Distinguished Lawyer Award in 2026 and the NKY Chamber's Frontiersman Award in 2021.

Bob Heil, executive director of strategic relationships and community engagement at KLH Engineers, joined the firm in 1987 and has served on nearly 30 boards. He was named the inaugural executive director of LaunchNKY, NKU's new Center for Civic Leadership, in November 2025. The center launched in January 2026.
