A faith-based nonprofit has secured up to $100,000 in federal funding to recruit roughly 200 volunteers for service projects across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, and it's looking for Kenton County organizations to help put that money to work.

Lifepath Apostolic AGAPE House of Prayer, based in Mason, Ohio, announced August 1 that it received an AmeriCorps Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service grant to launch what it calls the AGAPE Community Volunteer Corps. The program will train and deploy volunteers to address food insecurity, neighborhood revitalization, workforce development, youth engagement, and nonprofit capacity building, according to a press release on LINK nky.

The organization is actively inviting nonprofits, schools, churches, businesses, and civic groups in Fort Mitchell, Crestview Hills, Edgewood, Villa Hills, Crescent Springs, Lakeside Park, and Fort Wright to propose service projects or sign on as partners.

"Our vision extends far beyond a single day of service," said Pastor Dawn Sanders, Lifepath's executive director and founder. "We are building a lasting volunteer infrastructure that brings people and organizations together across the Greater Cincinnati region, including Northern Kentucky."

Sanders, who founded Lifepath in November 2021, brings more than 20 years of ministerial and coaching experience along with a professional background in information technology. She said the corps is structured as a year-round program rather than a one-day event. The organization plans to build volunteer leadership pipelines, training resources, and partnership systems that outlast the initial grant period.

Participating organizations can serve as service-project hosts, volunteer recruitment partners, referral sources, sponsors, or providers of in-kind support. Lifepath is also recruiting individuals who want to volunteer, lead teams, or help coordinate projects in their neighborhoods.

No deadline for partnership proposals has been announced. Details on volunteer registration, project locations, and activities tied to the 2027 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will be released as planning progresses.
