Brian Heck has played in Point/Arc golf tournaments for 25 years. Monday, July 20, he finally got his ace.
The Lakeside Park resident sank a hole-in-one on the 163-yard, par-3 second hole at the Mike Dyas Golf Classic at Triple Crown Country Club in Union. It was the first hole-in-one in the tournament's 33-year history at Triple Crown. The event, a fundraiser for The Point/Arc of Covington, was renamed three years ago to honor the late Mike Dyas but has been running since 1994.
"It was my first ever hole-in-one," Heck said. He used a 6-iron.
Heck, who works for Richard Goettle Inc. and plays about 30 rounds a year, said he's known the Gerding family, which founded the nonprofit, his whole life. He also won the Closest to the Pin trophy and a two-year lease from Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell.
