Veterans and military families in Fort Mitchell, Edgewood, Crestview Hills, and across Kenton County can connect with 45 employers Tuesday without leaving home, thanks to a free virtual career fair co-hosted by the Disabled American Veterans, headquartered in Erlanger near the I-71/I-75 and I-275 interchange.

The Central Region Virtual Career Fair, a partnership between DAV and RecruitMilitary, runs from noon to 4 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 4. Registration is free at my.recruitmilitary.com.

The event is open to veterans, active-duty service members, transitioning military personnel, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and dependents.

Who's hiring

Registered exhibitors include Boeing, Leidos, Walmart, CVS Health, Wells Fargo, PNC Bank, FedEx Freight, Ford Motor Company, BNSF Railway, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Positions span construction, healthcare, administration, logistics, banking, and government, ranging from entry-level to senior management.

The RecruitMilitary platform lists roughly 80,000 open positions with attending organizations on its job board.

More than job listings

Beyond employer connections, attendees can access free career counseling, resume help, networking with fellow veterans, and assistance with VA benefits and disability claims. Participants interact with company representatives through virtual booths, chat rooms, and video interviews.

Raul Torres, event director with RecruitMilitary, told KJCT8 on Aug. 3: "Get ahead of the game, do your homework, make sure you know what the company is about, what they're hiring for. That way you ask better questions about the culture and such when you're in these chat rooms with the reps."

Local roots

DAV moved its national headquarters to Erlanger in 2021. The nonprofit plans to sponsor more than 90 job fairs in 2026 as part of its employment initiative, according to LINK nky.

It is one of the largest veterans service organizations in the country, with more than 1 million members.

What's next

Veterans who miss Tuesday's event have another chance soon. A National Virtual Career Fair is scheduled for Aug. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern. DAV and RecruitMilitary also have an in-person Greater Cincinnati Area Veterans Job Fair set for Oct. 29, in Erlanger. Details and registration are available at dav.org.
