Seven road and infrastructure projects along some of Crestview Hills' busiest corridors head to the city's Public Works Committee on August 5, with updates on work affecting commuters and shoppers on Thomas More Parkway, Dixie Highway, and surrounding streets.

The 9 a.m. meeting at City Hall covers projects spanning two major commercial strips and several neighborhood roads, according to the city's posted agenda.

Here's what's on the table.

Thomas More Parkway repaving

The city secured a federal SNK grant to fund the majority of improvements to Thomas More Parkway, but the project remains years away. The NKY Water District must first replace a water main along the parkway before road work can begin. In his February 12 State of the City address, Mayor Paul Meier said the project was still a few years out.

Lookout Farm Drive bridge replacement

Construction on the $1.2 million bridge replacement over Dry Creek is already underway. JTM Smith Construction signed the contract in November 2025, and Council Member Tim McKinley, who chairs the Public Works Committee, confirmed at the March 12 City Council meeting that work had begun. The replacement targets flooding at the Shinkle Road/Lookout Farm Drive intersection during heavy rain. Sanitation District No. 1 contributed $371,270 toward the project.

Dixie Highway sidewalk improvements

The agenda lists sidewalk work from Whitehouse Drive north to the city's border with Lakeside Park. As of March, McKinley reported that plans were still in review with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Construction had been expected to begin in spring 2026, but no public update on whether that timeline held has been posted since March.

The project's exact scope has shifted in city documents. The February State of the City described the sidewalk running from Carren Drive to Whitehouse Drive, while the August 5 agenda describes it as Whitehouse Drive north to the city border, suggesting either two phases or an updated scope.

Horsebranch Road improvements

Crestview Hills and Edgewood share a 60% SNK grant for drainage improvements and repaving on Horsebranch Road. Compass Infrastructure Group, whose Mike Yeager serves as the city's contract engineer, was awarded the engineering contract in February 2025. McKinley told council on March 12 that the project was targeted to begin in July 2026. Whether that timeline held is expected to be addressed at the August 5 meeting.

Also on the agenda

The committee will hear updates on Centre View Boulevard repaving, which is grant-funded through OKI (Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments), the Woodspoint Drive repaving that was out for bid as of March, and the Turkeyfoot Road improvement project at the Thomas More Parkway intersection, which remains in the state road budgeting process.

The committee includes Council Members Ed Wise and Mark Lehman, with Public Works Director John Scheben and City Administrator Alex Mattingly also attending. The next Public Works Committee meeting is scheduled for September 2.
