Area professionals can meet local nonprofits recruiting board members at a networking event Aug. 13, in Covington, with bourbon tastings as a bonus.

Northern Kentucky Young Professionals is hosting its signature Bourbon & Boards event from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wenzel Distillery, 412 Madison Ave., according to the NKY Tribune. The evening is open to professionals at any career stage looking to serve on a nonprofit board.

The first hour is open networking. Nonprofits will staff tables with two representatives each, ready to talk about what their organizations do and what they need from board members. The second hour shifts to a panel discussion on board service.

Three speakers are scheduled. James Sherry, chief executive officer of Holly Hill Child & Family Solutions, will speak alongside Nick Wade, manager of community campaign and engagement at ArtsWave. Heather Hale of Huntington National Bank will moderate.

Holly Hill, a behavioral health nonprofit serving children and families since 1884, operates offices in both Covington and Fort Mitchell. ArtsWave funds more than 150 arts organizations across the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky region each year.

NKYP said the event gives young professionals a way to contribute to the community at a strategic level, according to the group's registration page on the NKY Chamber website. The event is open to professionals at all career stages.

Table spots are limited.

Nonprofits that want to recruit board members can still register for a table. Attendees can sign up through the NKY Chamber website. Wenzel Distillery, founded in 2022, is the first bourbon distillery to operate in Covington since before Prohibition and sits in a restored 1916 Packard automotive building.
